Push-ups
Shortlisted Design for a public art program (Kunst am Bau) in Karlsruhe, 2021
A large mirror (6 x 3 meters) out of stainless steel with a natural basalt stone on top.
The proposed artwork “Push Ups” is designed for a laboratory wall of Institute of Mechatronics, covering the entire surface. This installation features a polished stainless steel mirror that creates a portal to a new space, enhancing the existing environment by reflecting movement and light. An elliptical basalt stone is embedded in the upper section, symbolizing the power of nature and a connection to the past while serving as a metaphor for new beginnings. The reflection engages viewers, prompting self-awareness and encouraging them to consider their role in the ongoing innovation and collaboration within the workshop. The title reflects the idea of build- ing strength and confidence through basic exercises, paralleling the pursuit of growth and optimization.
